Beatrice wins district final, heading to state looking to defend title
ASHLAND - Beatrice will have the chance to both repeat and defend their Class B state title.
Beatrice knocked off Platte Valley 6-1 in the B-6 district final on Saturday afternoon thanks to a stellar day from Tucker Timmerman on the mound. Timmerman went 6.1 innings allowing just two hits and one unearned run, while also striking out 10.
On offense, Deegan Nelson got things started for Beatrice in the top of the second with an RBI double to left center scoring Austin Burroughs from second. Beatrice would also tack on two more that inning after a routine ground ball from Adam DeBoer went through the legs of Patriots second baseman Timmy Hunt. Beatrice led 3-0.
Beatrice would lead 3-1 heading to the top of the seventh when four walks would bring in three runs and the Orangemen would score the win. Deegan Nelson closed things down for the last two outs of the ninth.
