Plea hearing expected to be held

BEATRICE – The scheduled trial for Brandon Long, charged with murdering a Beatrice man late last year, is off.  The trial had been scheduled to begin with jury selection, on Monday. 

Gage County Attorney Roger Harris says a hearing will be held Monday morning in Gage County District Court, at 9 a.m.  Long was to have a hearing at 4 p.m.(today) Tuesday, on a state motion regarding admissibility of evidence.

Long was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony in the shooting of Alex Rader outside the home of Long and his fiance’ in the overnight hours of late December…as Rader stood outside the home. 

Investigators said Long had suspected Rader of having a relationship with his fiancé.
