OPD investigating after shoplifters run over security guard with truck

OMAHA, Neb. – Officers are reviewing surveillance video from Oak View Mall after a security guard was run over by a pair of suspected shoplifters.

According to a mall employee, two shoplifters left through the Dillard’s exit on Saturday. Upon their attempted exit, the alleged shoplifters were chased by the security guard, according to witnesses on the scene.

In their attempts to flee, the alleged shoplifters struck the guard with their vehicle, a white Ford pick-up truck.

Omaha Police say the security guard was sent to Bergan Mercy to receive treatment for his injuries, though they would not comment on his specific injuries.
