Beatrice Police Arrest Suspect in Home Burglary

BEATRICE – Beatrice Police have arrested a woman suspected in a home burglary along the fourteen-hundred block of Lincoln Street.
Police received a report at about 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, from a woman who said her son was sleeping in a bedroom and had heard someone enter the room and a closet.
Lieutenant Jay Murphy said the owners later found a small lockbox safe that contained medication was missing.
"They had a Ring doorbell...and the video showed a person who they recognized was the one who came in the house and got into the closet, and left with a safe."
Police later arrested 41-year-old Melissa Aragon, of Beatrice. Police officers had obtained a search warrant for the woman’s residence, and when they went there, located her outside the home.
"We did search the residence, the outbuildings and the vehicles, and did not locate the lock box."
Murphy said however, that Aragon acknowledged entering the Lincoln Street home, got scared and threw the lockbox near the victim’s home.
Police searched the area of the burglary in the suspect’s presence but did not find the safe. Aragon was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
In a separate incident, a man who had come to the Nebraska Probation Office at Police headquarters early Wednesday night was arrested because he had a pending warrant. Police encountered some resistance. The man was charged with resisting arrest and for the pending warrant. He is identified as 23-year-old Austyn Kuklish.
