James C. Young
James C. Young, 74, of Adams, passed away on the morning of January 2, 2026. He was born in Beatrice to Clyde and Dorothy (Burrows) Young. Except for a few years spent in Billings, Montana, Jim lived his entire life in Adams, where he formed lifelong friendships and was known throughout the community. Jim graduated from Adams High School in 1969 and honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1971 to 1974. He began his career with BNSF Railroad in 1974 and retired in 2011. In addition to his railroad work, Jim also crop-dusted from 1976 until 1999. On September 5, 1975, Jim was united in marriage to Carol Jurgens at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Pickrell. He was the first commander of the Adams VFW Post #10042 and a longtime member of the Adams VFW Post and Adams First United Methodist Church.
Jim will be remembered as one of the friendliest people around—always willing to lend a hand and quick to help a friend in need. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Carol; daughter, Natalie (Nathan) Fredrickson and their children, Brett, Ella, and Luke; sons, Jameson Young, and Jonathan Young and his children, Oliver and Evylyn, He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Dorothy Young; sister, Carol Ann House; and parents-in-law, John T. and Ina Jurgens.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the American Lutheran Church in Adams with Pastor Makena Riungu officiating. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.
