BEATRICE – Following the departure of an Arkansas-based company, a Nebraska firm is now working with Norris Public Power District on two solar energy projects.

ISI Solar of Central City is now working with Norris, operating a solar installation that was completed near Diller….with a second installation in the planning stages northwest of Beatrice near industrial facilities.

ISI Vice President of Engineering, Aaron Brown tells Gage County officials his company has taken over for Today’s Power, Incorporated, which has gotten out of the solar installation business.

"ISI has done lots of projects in Colorado for a company called Pivot. We've done battery projects, regular solar projects. In Nebraska, here recently...we have done projects in Gering, Sidney, Alliance, Imperial, Stuart....and your neighbor over here....Crete. Sandhills Energy is the developer of those, and we're the EPC, which is the engineering, procurement and construction. So, we built those sites. Some of those we maintain....some of those the developers maintain.

In Gage County, ISI is using the designs that were already produced between Norris Public Power District and Today’s Power, Inc.

"In fact, the racking material was obtained by Norris, so we're using the same racking. The only thing that has changed is different modules and different inverters."

There is a need for more generating capacity across the United States and solar is one component of that push. The two Norris solar installations will allow the district to lock in prices on that solar generation over a 25-year-period.
