"Night of Light" Event Tonight at BCH
The Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation and the Beatrice YMCA are sponsoring a special event tonight at the hospital.

The Beatrice Community Hospital and the Beatrice Y-M-C-A have teamed up together for an event this Thursday evening to remember those and to help support those who have fought cancer or have had a family member battle cancer.
The “Night of Light for Every Fight” event will be held at the Beatrice Community Hospital this Thursday night from 6pm to 9pm.
Director of the Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation Shelby Watson says the event will help show support for those who have dealt with cancer or currently fighting the battle….
"We are going to recognize those who are currently fighting and those who have survived cancer. We want to highlight the supporters who have helped those who are fighting or have fought. And have providers from the Beatrice Community Hospital there at the event to showcase that while it might feel individual at times, it's really a community wrapping their arms around everyone that has had cancer or been impacted by cancer".
The evening will include various activities from speeches by survivors to children’s activities. Watson says a number of booths will be set up in the B-C-H parking lot offering food and crafts..
"We have seven different food vendors lined up....seven different craft and boutique vendors lined up....similar to a fall festival. Individuals have been able to purchase shirts for whatever kind of situation they are in. If you are a supporter, a survivor, a fighter and so far the response has been really really good."
The highlight of the evening will be a memory walk around the hospital that will be include luminaries in memory of those who lost their fight against cancer.
Director of the Y-M-C-A Alison Leonard says it has been exciting to partner with the hospital to offer this event to the community.
"Collaboration is one of my favorite things. It is important for us to educate our community on collaboration and what it looks like. This has been fantastic. I am really excited to be partnering with the hospital foundation on this and what a great way to support the people in our community which is really what our organizations represent."
Informational booths focusing on cancer awareness and early detection will also be set-up during the evening event.
