GAGE COUNTY, Neb. - A Lincoln man is hospitalized after an accident involving a pickup truck.

The Gage County Sheriff's Office responded to an accident on the Homestead Trail near East Elm Rd. at 1:30 Sunday afternoon. Authorities say 24-year-old Seth Gehle was driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup when he felt something on the side of his truck. Gehle stopped and realized it was a cyclist, 51-year-old Joshua Shear of Lincoln.

The Sheriff's Office says Shear did not stop for the stop sign on the bike path, entered the roadway and struck the eastbound pickup in the side.

Beatrice Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. Shear was transported to Bryan West in Lincoln for treatment of his injuries.

Shear was using a helmet.
