BEATRICE, Neb. - A southeast Nebraska man is in custody on charges pertaining to drugs and driving under suspension.
While conducting routine patrol early Wednesday morning, officers saw a man they recognized, Eric Lewien, standing outside of Git-N-Split in the 200 Block of N. 6th St. When conducting a records check, they discovered that Lewien's license had been suspended and saw his car, a white Chevrolet Tahoe, parked outside.
When the vehicle left the seen, a second vehicle pulled in front of the officer trying to attempt a traffic stop, so back up was called in. Upon making the traffic stop in the 1100 block of Bell St., officers did find Lewien behind the wheel and placed him under arrest.
While awaiting a tow truck, a search of Lewien's vehicle officers discovered a white crystalline substance, four glass smoking pipes containing residue, a digital scale with residue, a rubber case containing THC wax, and additional THC wax paraphernalia.
Lewien was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving under suspension.
He's currently held in the Gage County Jail.
