LINCOLN, Neb. - It's not every year you see a key part of the offense making a position change in the off season, but Heinrich Haarberg is doing just that for the Big Red - and according to his head coach and teammates, he's doing it quite well.

After a season at quarterback for Nebraska in 2023, Heinrich Haarberg spent most of his playing time last year out wide or in the back field.

That'll remain for 2025, as he works at tight end during fall camp.

"You can't just switch from quarterback to tight end off pure athleticism.. Tight end is  a way different game," Junior tight end Luke Lindenmeyer said. "The whole spring, him just being there, putting his hand in the ground, getting in a receiver stance, running routes and 1-on-1's and stacking those, eventually he's going to get it and he's getting better already."

"It's never really been a question about 'can he handle the catching and the getting open' it's really been more about making the transition from a non-contact position to making contact and blocking people and moving people and he's worked really hard at it," Nebraska Head Coach Matt Rhule said.

The Kearney Catholic alum found the end zone once in 2024, in Nebraska's bowl game eligibility-clinching win over Wisconsin.

He'll share this years tight end reps with Carter Nelson and Luke Lindenmeyer. It was announced Thursday that Husker tight end Mac Markway will miss significant time after re-tearing his ACL.
