BEATRICE, Neb. - One man was placed under arrest for obstructing a police officer in southeast Nebraska.

Around 2:16 a.m. Saturday, officers were sent to the 400 Block of N. 7th St. in Beatrice to conduct a welfare check on a male laying in the roadway. Upon arrival, Beatrice Police say they saw one man walking down the alleyway, appearing to be intoxicated.

Police say the man then balled up his fists, which led a Nebraska State Patrol officer to intervene, placing 30-year-old Henry Kagy in handcuffs. Kagy then began resisting, making placing handcuffs on him difficult.

While attempting to put handcuffs on Kagy, BPD says an NSP officer suffered an injury to hid right hand and was kicked in the leg by Kagy.

Kagy was arrested for resisting arrest, obstruction, and assault on an officer. He was booked into the Gage County Jail.
