Beatrice Rural Fire responds to small grass fire, Friday afternoon

A small grass fire ignited just west of Beatrice on Friday afternoon.

BEATRICE, Neb. - A small grass fire ignited just west of Beatrice on Friday afternoon. 

According to Gage County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, a deputy on patrol came across the grass fire at 1:23 p.m. at Southwest 89th Road and Highway Four, near the Homestead National Historical Park. 

Beatrice Rural Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and quickly extinguished the fire. 

There is no word on how the fire started.
