Small pack of ducks pull away, in Sunday Homestead Days fundraiser
BEATRICE – A few plastic ducks broke away from the pack, racing to the finish line at the Homestead Days Duck Race on Sunday…..one of the closing events that serves as a fundraiser for Homestead Days.
Amy Southwick of the Beatrice Area Chamber of Commerce said 360 ducks were sold at ten-dollars a piece. The top six ducks were the winners for various prizes donated by area businesses.
Duck number 405 provided a Blaz’n Grill Works grill to the person buying that contestant number. Duck number 81 won an Ashley Furniture Store refrigerator. Security First Bank donated $500 to the third place winner, Duck number 403. Duck Number 121 earned a diamond necklace for it's buyer, from Leo’s Jewelry. The buyer of Duck number 59 won a $100 gift card to both Russ’s Market and Beatrice Family Fare. Duck number 378 was the winner of a $200 UStop gift card.
