Train hits, kills man in Wood River

Authorities are investigating the death of a man who was struck and killed by a train on Sunday morning in Central Nebraska.

HASTINGS, Neb. – Authorities are investigating the death of a man who was struck and killed by a train on Sunday morning in Central Nebraska. 

According to a news release from the Hall County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to railroad tracks located in the area of 9th St. and Railroad Rd. in Wood River around 10:11 a.m.

Authorities located a deceased man near the tracks, who was reportedly struck by a train.

The Sheriff's Office says authorities found a nearby vehicle with out-of-state license plates that they believe belongs to the victim. 

The man has not been identified as of Monday morning, and an investigation is ongoing.
