LINCOLN, Neb.- A man is staying on death row for the murder of a northeast Nebraska woman.

The Nebraska Supreme Court today ruled denying the request for post conviction relief for Aubrey Trail.

Trail was sentenced to death in 2023 related to the 2017 murder of Sydney Loofe.

Even though Trail confessed to the crime, he appealed his conviction and later filed for relief. The District Court denied his motion, mostly because he filed more than a year after his appeal was denied.

Nebraska Supreme Court agreed with this ruling today.

Trail’s co-defendant in this case, Bailey Boswell, is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
