Carol Jean Behrends, born on January 15, 1946 in Lincoln, Nebraska, peacefully passed away on April 25, 2025. After attending the University of Nebraska Lincoln, she married Gene Behrends. To this union a son, Dan, was born. They later divorced. She lived in Arizona from 1971 to 1988 before moving back to her roots in Nebraska, where she resided for 35 years. Carol lived a fulfilling life as a loving mother, devoted nurse, and speech therapist. She was fond of playing cards and engaging with people, and was known for her compassionate nature and friendly spirit. Carol was an active participant in Bible studies, reflecting her strong Christian faith.

Carol is survived by her son, Dan Behrends; grandchildren, Zach and Maddie Behrends; nieces and nephews, Bonnie Mayer, Bruce Hoefling, Brad Hoefling, Mark Ehnen and Cathy Ehnen; dear friend, Sue Short; many cousins; and a host of extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Roland Ehnen; mother, Viola (Saathoff) Ehnen Koch; stepfather, Percy Koch; brother, Marvin Ehnen; and sister, Eleanor Hoefling. A woman of great faith, we are reminded of the verse from 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
