Gage County Planning Commission reappointments approved
Non-paid commission members make zoning recommendations to the Gage County Board
BEATRICE – Two members of the seven-member Gage County Planning and Zoning Commission have been reappointed to new terms. But the votes conducted show a split in support for one of the appointees.
The supervisors met in closed session prior to the vote, Wednesday. After that, the board reappointed James Lenners, of rural Adams to another three-year-term on the commission, by a 7-0 vote. He serves as the commission’s current chairman.
The supervisors reappointed Jeff Argo of rural Wymore to another three-year term, on a vote of 4-3…with Emily Haxby, Rex Adams and Rick Clabaugh voting no. Argo previously served as chairman of the commission.
The county planning commission considers special use permits and proposed zoning regulations…and conducts public hearings…sometimes on controversial projects such as renewable energy or large livestock confinement operations.
The commission makes recommendations to the county board, which then has the final say on permit applications.
