BEATRICE – City street crews are midway through a popular spring cleanup program, in Beatrice.

This is Clean City Week, where the city of Beatrice Street Department dedicates crew members, trucks and loaders to hauling away large items residents place at curbside.

Citizens registered online ahead of time, for the program.

Crews were canvassing west areas of the city, on Tuesday.  Wednesday’s final day schedule will include south and southeast areas of the city.

The annual project during the spring gives residents a chance to haul away items that don’t fit in a regular garbage can, for free.  That includes things like old furniture, large appliances, carpet and old lawnmowers.

Things prohibited include brush, logs, tires, batteries and household hazardous waste.

The cleanup runs Monday through Wednesday, but crews also use Thursday to pick up any addresses that may have been missed.
