Melvin E. Reedy

No words can fully express the sorrow we feel in the loss of a loving and devoted husband, father, Papa, grandpa and friend. Already, the outpouring of love and concern for Melvin is evidence of how much he was loved. Melvin Eugene Reedy passed away at his home on April 13, 2025.
Melvin was born on August 14, 1949 to Lewis and Rose (Novotny) Reedy in Blue Springs. He served in the United States Navy from November 20, 1968 until December 2, 1971. He was a dedicated, hardworking ironworker for 30 years. On June 1, 1973, he married Nancy Zimmerman and they were blessed with two amazing sons, Joel Reedy and wife Cindy of Beatrice and Jonathan Reedy and wife Maria of Plattsmouth, NE. Some of his greatest joy came from his three grandchildren, Cole Reedy of Beatrice, Caden Reedy and wife Carissa of Corpus Christi, TX and Shiann Reedy of Plattsmouth. It gave him so much joy to do whatever he could to help his family. In any way to lighten their load, slip them kids some cash, or just lend a helping hand; he was always available or changed plans so he could be. He was an avid golfer who never claimed to be very good, but he was. He will be missed every day.
He is survived by his immediate family; sisters, Vera Crumb of Wymore and Barb Mailahn (Bruce Craig) of Beatrice; sister-in-law, Donna Reedy of Kersey, CO; brother-in-law, Larry Zimmerman (Cathy Rakes) of Blue Springs; sisters-in-law, Connie (Bruce) Jurgens of Adams and Betty Johnson of Hickman; many nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; 1 sister; 2 brothers-in-law; and an infant son.
Cremation has taken place, but a celebration of life will be held on April 26, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Anderson Post #25 American Legion in Wymore with military honors being rendered by the United States Navy at 3:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for future designation. You are invited to share your memories and help celebrate the life of our beloved Melvin on his memorial page at www.ghchapel.com.
These arrangements have been entrusted to the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore.
