Irene Schoen passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 11, 2025 at Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams. She was born February 19, 1930 to Heye and Reka (Ideus) Parde. Irene was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of Pickrell.

Irene married Willard E. Schoen on August 15, 1948. They made their home south of Adams and raised 4 children there, Verlyn, Diane, Eugene and Myron. Irene worked on the farm with her husband, raising and farrowing hogs and milking cows on their Grade A dairy farm. She later was a CNA at Gold Crest Retirement Center for several years. She always had a big garden, canning it’s produce of vegetables and fruit. She always baked bread every day for her family.

Irene loved her flower garden, dominos, Chinese Checkers, and playing cards with her family and friends. She enjoyed her daily devotions and reading her bible. Irene was a longtime member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Pickrell and had been involved in the Workers for Christ Circle, and was currently attending Christ Community Church in Beatrice.

Survivors include her children, Verlyn (Sharon) Schoen of Omaha, Diane Harms of Adams, formerly of DeWitt, Eugene (Phyllis) Schoen of Pickrell, and Myron (Ruth) Schoen of Adams; Grandchildren Ryan (LeAnn) Harms of Adams, Nicole (David) Kraus of Syracuse, Kristal (Faron) Niles of Adams, Amber Schoen of Lincoln, Brandon Schoen of Pickrell, and Kaylee Schoen, Ashley and Cameron Schoen, all of Adams; Great Grandchildren Taylan and Hudson Vetrovsky, Avery, Landry and Grayson Kraus, and Coral Harms; Step Grandchildren Ashton, Carter & Nevaeh Niles, Riley Kraus, and Paige (Jonathan) Brown; and step great great grandchildren Harper and Hayden Brown.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents Heye and Reka Parde, husband Willard Schoen (November 1995), son in law Rick Harms (March 2014), sister Thelma (Henry) Busboom, brothers Wilfred (Geneva) & Edward (Bernice) Parde, brother and sister in law George (Velma) Ideus, and parents in law Louis & Tena Schoen.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the Christ Community Church in Beatrice with Pastor Dan Martin officiating. The church will Livestream the service on their website. Interment will be at the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery near Pickrell. The body will lie in state Wednesday from noon-8:00 PM at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 AM Thursday at the Church. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice for future designation with the funeral home in charge.
