CRETE, Neb. - A house fire in southeast Nebraska claimed three lives Wednesday evening.

Emergency crews were dispatched to 16th and Oak Streets in Crete on reports of a porch fire around 5:30 p.m. Upon arrival, crews found a home completely engulfed in flames.

Despite live-saving measures, three people died in the blaze, including 74-year-old Dolores Aughe, 73-year-old Sam Aughe and 5-year-old Samuel Hernandez. One other person, a female in her 20's, managed to escape the blaze and was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lincoln for smoke inhalation.

According to Crete Police Chief Gary Young, the preliminary investigation by the Nebraska State Fire Marshall has led to the conclusion that a propane grill on the homes front porch ignited.
