Jerry K. Mueller, 80 years of age, of Mitchell passed away Monday, March 17, 2025, at his home. He was born on August 3, 1944, in Beatrice, Nebraska to Carl and Margaret (Taylor) Mueller. After attending high school in Wymore, he married the love of his life Paula Brownawell on October 24, 1965. Jerry and Paula were blessed with three children: Kent, Lee, and Darcy.

One of Jerry’s first jobs was helping his parents with their mail routes. He then worked for a farmer after high school and subsequently started his first business Jerry’s Roll Mobile, servicing the Ag industry. Being a hard worker and entrepreneur, he then started his second business Mueller Excavation and worked that business along with trucking and road construction until 2024.

At a young age Jerry learned how to evade law enforcement who were constantly watching for him due to his loud and fast motorcycles and cars. That love and need for speed stayed with him until the end. He spent many years racing go carts and participating in enduro races. To this end, he helped build a BMX and go cart track in Beatrice. He also built his first family home in Beatrice, NE.

The family moved to Mitchell, NE in 1981 where they raised their children and made many lifelong friends. Along with his trucking and excavation, Jerry also did snow removal for many local businesses. He had a mischievous personality, full of shenanigans and a laugh that was one of a kind. He was someone that livened up any outing or event and could always be heard from across the room.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Paula; sons, Kent Mueller and wife Kim, and Lee Mueller, both of Mitchell; daughter Darcy Pohlmann and husband Chad of Plymouth; grandchildren Nathan Schlothauer, Katie Hill, Cody Mueller, Whitney (Aaron) Tracy, Brooklyn Sorenson, and Summer Mueller; great grandchildren, Eddisyn and Drake Hill and Adrianna Tracy; brother-in-law Terry Brownawell, sister-in-law Cheryl Mueller, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Barbara Ray and her husband Gary, sister Pat Brownawell; brother David Mueller; and grandson Terry Hill.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Presbyterian Church in Wymore. The family invites friends and family to join in fellowship and share stories and fond memories of Jerry.
