Casey Kindt pleads not guilty to murder of former fiance
Kindt is set to face a jury trial on July 22.

SEWARD, Neb. - The Seward man who was charged with the first-degree murder of his former fiance in February pleaded not guilty to all charges against him on Monday.
Appearing virtually for his arraignment at the Seward County District Court on Monday, 54-year-old Casey Kindt, via attorney Seth Morris, entered not guilty pleas for all the charges he is facing stemming from the February death of Jamie Hagen in Seward.
Those charges include burglary (a Class 2A felony); intent to commit child abuse (a Class 3A felony); tampering with a witness (a Class 4 felony); prohibited possession of a firearm, use of a firearm to commit a felony, and first-degree murder - all Class 1 felonies. There are a total of three separate cases filed against Kindt in the Seward district court under Judge James Stecker.
Kindt stands accused of the murder of 36-year-old Jamie Hagen, who was shot and killed in her Seward home shortly before midnight on February 8. Kindt was discovered at the scene with self-inflicted gunshot wounds and was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
A few days later, he was arrested and charged with the murder. Shortly after Hagen's death, it was revealed that the two were previously engaged to be married, but that Hagen filed a protective order against Kindt in December, two days after he allegedly assaulted Hagen and threatened her and her daughter.
Kindt posted bond from that case but was then taken back into custody after he violated the terms of his bond by contacting Hagen. On February 7, Kindt again posted bond and was released - the very next day, Hagen was dead.
Following the entries of the not guilty pleas, Kindt's current case has been set for a jury trial beginning on July 22. This time, he is being held without bond.
