Southeast Community College has two wrestling National Champions

School places several wrestlers on All-American teams

BEATRICE – Southeast Community College honored two wrestling national champions Tuesday, in Beatrice.

The SCC Board of Governors honored Keith Smith and Martha Hinneh as men’s and women’s individual national champions.   This year, the SCC Women wrestlers finished fifth nationally and had six members on All-American teams.  The SCC Men finished sixth in the nation and placed five wrestlers on All-American squads.

Hinneh is from Omaha and is a computer science student.  Smith is from Lincoln and is a business student at SCC.

SCC Athletic Director Brett Bright says the Southeast Community College men’s basketball team is currently playing in the NJCAA Division Two National Tournament in Danville, Illinois, after having won the Region Nine tournament.

On Monday, SCC lost to Henry Ford Community College, 80-70.  The Storm was led by Marquis Toliver, with 18 points and 7 rebounds.  SCC also got 11 points from Chang Deng and 10 from Brandon Shoop.

Henry Ford was led by Amari Allen’s 21 points, 19 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals.

Southeast Community College will take on Oakland Community College today (Wed) (10 am) in the NJCAA Division Two National Basketball Tournament.
