Construction set to begin on river bridge near Fairbury

Bridge deck upgrade is part of the project on U.S. Highway 136

BEATRICE — Weather permitting, work will start next week, Monday, March 17th  on U.S. Highway 136, west of Fairbury in Jefferson County.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation says Bridges, Inc. is the prime contractor for a Little Blue River bridge project that will include bridge deck and rail replacement, along with mainline paving.

Traffic will be maintained with the use of traffic signals and will include a 12-foot lane restriction. Expected completion of the project is October of this year.
