It is with deep love that we remember Kathy Mittan, who was born on March 24, 1957, in Beatrice, NE, and left us on February 13, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society in Beatrice. Kathy was a compassionate soul, a beacon of loving kindness in every life she touched. A caring wife to Kevin Mittan since September 27, 1986, she was the supportive backbone of her family, always ready with a thoughtful gesture or kind word. Her life was a testament to the quote, "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return." Kathy was a dedicated paraeducator at Southern Elementary School, serving the school and its students passionately for over twenty years. A 1975 graduate of Southern High School, she worked for Beatrice and Blue Springs Keno and served as a CNA/CSM for Wymore Good Samaritan. Kathy retired from Southern Public Schools in 2020. She was a true crime junkie, an avid reader of murder mysteries, and a lover of cross-stitching and flower gardening. Above all, what mattered most to Kathy was family.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Kevin of Blue Springs; children, Dana Fellows of Blue Springs, Michael Mittan of Wymore, and Matthew Mittan of Blue Springs; siblings, Vern (Cathy) Craig and Debbie Ash of Hutchison, KS, Darwin (Lynn) Craig of DeFuniak Springs, FL, Tina (Scott) Thomas of Beatrice, Angie (Fred) Naumann of Wymore, and Willie (Nina) Scheele of Lincoln; many nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Vern Craig, Sr.; mother, Beulah (Willard) Scheele; and parents-in-law, Russell and Norma Mittan; and her beloved cat of 25 years, Squirt.

A funeral will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 21, 2025 at the Wymore Church of Christ with Clayton Lundstedt officiating. Burial will be at the Blue Springs Cemetery. A family prayer service will begin at 10:15 AM at the church. The body will lie in state at Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM with the family greeting relatives and friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. Casual attire or Husker or Green Bay Packer requested. We invite all who knew Kathy to share their memories and view her funeral service and video tribute on her memorial page at www.ghchapel.com. Upload your photos and share your stories, as we remember a life lived with love, compassion, and grace. "Life is eternal, and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight." We celebrate Kathy's life and the beautiful horizon she has now crossed.

These services have been entrusted to the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore.
