BEATRICE – What’s leftover from this week’s snowstorm in the central business district of Beatrice was being removed by city street crew early on Valentine’s Day.

Public works crews using graders, trucks and the city’s monster snow blower were taking on the ridges of snow piled down the center of several streets.

The tight quarters of the historic downtown means the snow has to be hauled away.

Beatrice received about five inches of snow from this week’s blast of winter…a somewhat smaller amount compared to a January storm.

The remnants of the winter weather were being hauled to a city site next to the Big Blue River.

Chances of more snow for southeast Nebraska are in the forecast, all the way through next Tuesday.
