February storm brings snow across SE Nebraska and NE Kansas

Snow totals expected to range from four to seven inches

BEATRICE   – A second blast of winter snow this season arrived after midnight in Southeast Nebraska….as southern areas of the state were under a winter storm warning issued by the National Weather Service.

Two to three inches of snow fell in the Beatrice area by four a.m.  Accumulating snow of five to seven inches was forecast across the southeast corner of Nebraska…..with amounts in northeast Kansas expected to be similar.

The storm warning was forecast to extend to six p.m., Wednesday.  Gradually clearing skies will drop overnight lows into below-zero territory with wind chills for Thursday expected to be double digits below zero.

Several schools in the area had canceled classes for Wednesday, including Beatrice, Crete, Deshler, Fairbury, Freeman, Johnson County-Central, Fillmore Central, Tri County, Pawnee City, Milford and Thayer Central.

Campuses of Southeast Community College were also closed.

Two to four inches of snow had been reported early Wednesday morning, near Burchard and Table Rock. Beatrice had received three inches of snow by 6:30 a.m.
