BEATRICE, Neb. - While southeast Nebraska may not get as much snow as once projected, travel is still not advised.

As of 4:00 p.m. Sunday, the Beatrice area reported anywhere three to six inches of snow with snow expected to continue until the early evening hours of Sunday night. Most roads throughout the area continued to be partially or completely covered with snow and ice.

Gage County Emergency Manager Lisa Wiegand says, while the area is expected to see less snow, travel is not advised due to possible drifts and blowing snow.

"You have to proceed with extreme caution, there is blowing and drifting," Wiegand said. "The northern part of the county hasn't seen as much snow as the southern end of the county, but blowing snow is still an issue... Crews have to stay ahead of the blowing snow and, at this time, traveling is not advised."

A winter weather advisory remains in effect until midnight and a cold weather advisory will go into effect at 10:40 p.m. until Monday at noon.
