Defensive Lineman Jimari Butler reportedly entering transfer portal

Amid news of defensive coaching changes, another Husker plans to transfer.

LINCOLN, Neb. - Amid news of defensive coaching changes, another Husker plans to transfer.

Junior defensive lineman Jimari Butler plans to enter the transfer portal, as ON3 Sports first confirmed. Butler recorded 7.5 sacks in three years with the Huskers and started 10 games in 2024. 

Butler is the fourth Husker to announce plans to transfer Monday, joining running back Gabe Ervin Jr., defensive lineman Vincent Jackson, and linebacker Stefon Thompson. ESPN's Pete Thamel confirmed defensive coordinator Tony White signed a 3-year deal to become defensive coordinator at Florida State. 

Among the reports, White is being joined in Tallahassee, Fla. by defensive line coach Terrance Knighton.
