BEATRICE – A one-vehicle accident has taken the life of an elderly man in far northeast Kansas. The rollover accident happened Sunday night, about four-point-five miles east of Fairview, Kansas….in Brown County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a 2013 Kia Sorrento driven by 76-year-old Richard Childress of Hiawatha was traveling east on U.S. Highway 36 when it left the roadway to the north, near the intersection with Goldfinch Road.
The SUV traveled east in the ditch, struck a highway sign…and then vaulted over Goldfinch Road, overturning multiple times. Investigators say the driver was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
The fatality victim was not wearing a seatbelt. The KHP said the accident occurred at around 8:30 p.m.
