BEATRICE - The Nebraska Hospital Association has recognized Beatrice Community Hospital with the association's 2024 Quest for Excellence award, presented during the Nebraska Hospital Association convention in October. The recognition was given for the BCH “Patients without Primary Care Providers in the Emergency Department” initiative.

The project focused on finding a way to ensure patients who come to the Emergency Department to get timely follow-up care with a primary care provider.

The high cost of emergency room care for community members, and patients not getting appropriate follow-up and preventative care for improved long-term health….were concerns. BCH has been able to match 139 new patients with a primary care provider over the past eight months, enabling the hospital to assist community members in receiving comprehensive care.

The Quest for Excellence Award is given for efforts that showcase exemplary models of patient care that can be utilized by the rest of the healthcare community.

In addition to an award plaque, Beatrice Community Hospital received a $2,000 cash prize.

BCH members were recognized at the Nebraska Hospital Association convention banquet as the winner in the Critical Access Hospital category.
