BEATRICE, NEB. - For the fourth time in program history, and for the first time since 2003, the Beatrice Lady Orange are softball state champions.

Thanks to a game winning RBI single from Tatum Tempelmeyer in the bottom of the eighth, Beatrice knocked off Hastings 1-0 in the state finals at Connie Clausen Field in Omaha.

Through seven innings, no runs had been plated while a total of just five hits went on the score board - through seven, only Sadie Hereth had hits for the Lady Orange as Tigers freshman Ella Tinsman tossed eight innings allowing just one run on three hits, striking out 13.

For Beatrice, Layla Boyko tossed her second consecutive complete game shutout striking out eight.

A major turning point in the ball game was a 5-4-3 inning ending double play turned by Tana Antons, Brooke Gleason, and Karrigan Henrichs that kept Hastings off the scoreboard in the seventh, setting up a walk off situation for the Lady Orange.

Beatrice finishes their year at 30-5.
