BEATRICE – Firefighters were sent to a southeast Nebraska truck stop Sunday night, after a burning odor and smoke coming out of the ceiling were reported from inside the business.

Beatrice Rural Firefighters were sent to the Diamond-T, U-Stop Store…just outside the north city limits of Beatrice…after ten p.m.  People inside the business had been evacuated prior to firefighters arriving.

Emergency traffic between firefighters and the Southeast Communications Center reported an electrical fire within the building, but apparently no open flame.

After some investigation, the problem was reported to be a bad electrical fixture and power was shut off to it.

Firefighters left the scene an hour after the incident was reported.
