Lady Orange sweep through district final, set to face Gretna East at state

BEATRICE, NEB. - Lady Orange Softball is heading to state for the second consecutive season!
Beatrice knocked off Elkhorn North 12-3 and 11-7 in the B-4 District Final on Saturday afternoon to punch their ticket to Hastings.
In game one, Brooke Gleason led the charge on offense for the Lady Orange with two doubles and a three run homer.
In game two, Beatrice built up a 7-0 lead before the Wolves plated five runs in the fifth and two in the seventh. Beatrice's insurance runs came in the form of a big top of the seventh in which Layla Boyko and Callie Schwisow both went deep. Schwisow led the charge for the Lady Orange in game two going 4-for-5 with a triple and a homer and four RBI.
Beatrice now turns their attention to state, where they'll face off with Gretna East, as Beatrice is three-seed, with the Griffons the six-seed.
First pitch for Beatrice's round one contest is set for 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
