Preliminary trial date set for Beatrice man arrested in infant death case

A preliminary trial date has been in set in the case of a Beatrice man arrested for suspicion of intentional child abuse resulting in death.

BEATRICE, NEB. - A preliminary trial date has been in set in the case of a Beatrice man arrested for suspicion of intentional child abuse resulting in death. 

Austin Meyn appeared in Gage County Court on Friday morning as a preliminary trial date was set for Wednesday, Oct 9, at 9:00 a.m. The case stems back to August 15, when police responded to reports of an unresponsive infant who later died at the Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center. 

Meyn, along with Ashlen Zitel, were arrested at separate locations, with Zitel arrested for negligent child abuse resulting in death.
