Hostage safe, suspect in custody after standoff in Seward County village
Authorities worked to safely resolve a standoff in Seward County early Monday morning.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Authorities worked to safely resolve a standoff in Seward County early Monday morning.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol, speaking to a 10/11 reporter at the scene, the standoff stemmed from what was a domestic issue turned hostage situation. NSP said that everything began around 3 a.m., adding that the hostage was later released and is safe.
Troopers told our reporter that the Seward County Sheriff’s Office took a suspect into custody just before 7 a.m.
According to Nebraska 511, Highway 103 in Seward County was closed due to the activity from the Highway 6 roundabout to Van Dorn Road, just south of Pleasant Dale for a little over an hour.
Volunteers with both Pleasant Dale Fire & Rescue, as well as Crete Fire and Rescue, were also at the scene with law enforcement.
