BEATRICE – An effort to restore an abandoned pioneer cemetery got the formal go-ahead Wednesday, from the Gage County Board of Supervisors. 

Lynn and Lea Anne Bogart want to restore what’s called the Pleasant Hill Cemetery located south of Wymore…which dates back to 1882.  The couple is working toward establishing a volunteer governing board and perpetual fund to handle maintenance.    

The cemetery has a few aging grave headstones and markers and a fence that was damaged previously during a severe storm. 

The county supervisors gave formal approval to the special use permit to reinstate the cemetery, located in Paddock Township about a mile from the Nebraska-Kansas state line.
