More fun through the weekend, at the Gage County Fair
Daily competition, nighttime entertainment, displays and exhibits at the Gage County Fair
BEATRICE – The Gage County Fair heads into its weekend events of Four-H and Open Class shows, exhibits and grandstand entertainment.
Gage County Ag Society President Don Esau says attendance has been good through the first half of the fair. "Bull riding on Wednesday night, we had a good turnout for our concert last night...we have races tonight. It's a little bit warm but people seem to be in good spirits...and we always have to remember that last year, we had a 114 heat index....so when you complain about the heat, that's good....but it could be worse."
Thursday night’s grandstand show went late into the evening with the Shoot to Thrill, AC/DC Tribute band. Friday in the cattle barn, the Four-H--FFA and Open Class Beef Shows were taking place….and horse, meat goat and poultry shows were also on the schedule.
"It's a lot different then when I was in Four-H a long time ago. There's a lot more fans...and the kids just do a good job of keeping the animals comfortable....and that's great."
Open class and Four-H exhibits are on display at the fair in various classes, such as foods, clothing, science and photography. Esau says plenty of tickets are available for the remaining grandstand entertainment.
"Come on out. We have a bunch of pre-sales on The Eve of Destruction, which is our big event....but there's still some tickets available. You want to make sure you get them. You can come out to the office or call and get your tickets. On Saturday, we have our cornhole tournament...Saturday afternoon...which will bring some people out. We're trying to make it fun for everybody in different aspects."
Racing is Friday night at the Beatrice Speedway…Saturday night’s event is the always popular Eve of Destruction…..with the Nebraska Bush Pullers Tractor Pull set for Sunday night at the Gage County Fair. The D-C Pride of Texas Carnival offers rides throughout the fair.
