Manhattan man dies in NE Kansas collision
Pickup was attempted to pass when it collided with semitrailer truck

Pickup, truck collision fatal near Cuba, Kansas
BEATRICE – A Manhattan, Kansas man has died in a two-vehicle collision that happened in Washington County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the wreck happened on U.S. Highway 36, about five miles east of Cuba, Kansas.
A 2020 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by 49-year-old Brian Dowling of Manhattan was eastbound on the highway attempting to pass another vehicle when it collided with a westbound semitrailer truck, driven by 71-year-old Wayne Thomsen, of Waterville, Kansas.
Dowling was taken to the Washington County Hospital, where he died. Thomsen escaped injury in the collision.
The KHP says the pickup driver was not wearing a seatbelt, while the semitrailer truck driver was belted in.
The accident occurred Tuesday, at around 12:30 p.m.
