Weekend of fun wraps up at Homestead Days
BEATRICE – Homestead Days for 2024 is in the books. Final events on Sunday included the duck race outside the Big Blue Water Park, where people could watch plastic ducks charge down a watery canal to the finish line.
Ducks were available for purchase for a chance at winning a number of prizes for the top finishers. Over 400 of the plastic ducks were sold for the event, this year.
The top duck….Number 374 finishing first, was bought by Patty Horvath.

Sunday also featured the Homestead Days Classic and Street Rod Car Show, which filled the west side of Chautauqua Park with entries. Nearby, a flea market and concessions were available at the park.
The Gage County Humane Society sponsored a barbecue on Sunday as a fundraiser for the organization. It was held at the Big Blue Dog Park along South Sixth Street.
Saturday’s Homestead Days parade along Court Street drew one of the largest number of entries ever to participate in the event. Gage County Tourism Director Dakota Hurley said a total of 109 entries traveled the parade route west through the downtown area.
After a huge attendance Saturday at Homestead National Historical park when actor Sean Astin was the guest and musical and cultural presentations were given…..the park continued with entertainment through Sunday.
