MARYSVILLE, Kan. -- SkyFest Marysville boasts an impressive line-up for this year’s two-day event on July 13 and 14.

Highlights include a hot air balloon glow, a free concert by country music sensation Logan Mize, the area's largest fireworks display and an exhilarating airplane fly-in.

There will be plenty of activities for children including bounce houses, balloon artists, face painters and a caricature artist.

The Marysville High School dance squad will sell glow items and operate a “glow up” selfie station.

“We’re really looking forward to all of the kids' activities,” said Sadie Goepfert, Marysville.  “I’m excited to grab a drink, listen to live music and watch my kid enjoy the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center exhibits and play on the bounce houses.”

Elliott Burns, Manhattan, Kan., takes the stage at 4 p.m.

Burns is a rising star in the country music scene, known for his soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics.

Following Burns’ concert, Logan Mize will headline the event with his American Dream Tour, taking the stage at 6:30 p.m.

Mize, an acclaimed country singer and songwriter, hails from Clearwater, Kan.  He brings a small-town charm to his music, drawing on personal experiences and relatable stories that resonate with listeners. Known for hits like “Can't Get Away from a Good Time” and “Better Off Gone,” his blend of traditional country and modern influences appeals to a wide range of fans.

“What better way to celebrate SkyFest Marysville 2024 than bringing in a successful musician who resides right here in Kansas,” said Tyer Warren, Marysville, one of Mize’s local fans. “I, like many others, have been listening to Mize since his first release back in 2009. ‘Boys From  Back Home’ is one of my all-time favorites."

After the concert, five hot air balloons will start to glow. The hot air balloons inflate shortly after dark and light up the night sky like Chinese lanterns.

“Once they start glowing, it’s the best time to see them,” said Chris Sabia, Kansas City AeroSports, the company hired for the balloon glow.  “The first thirty minutes are the most magical because most people haven’t seen this before.”

Sunday’s activities will be held at the Marysville Municipal Airport, 2500 North Street.

The five hot air balloons will take off at 6 a.m. flying over the skies over Marysville. This early morning spectacle offers a picturesque start to the day, with balloons drifting gracefully against the backdrop of the sunrise.

The Marysville Kiwanis Club will serve breakfast from 5:45 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. The menu includes biscuits and gravy, sausage, rolls, breakfast casseroles, coffee and juice.  A freewill donation will be accepted for their annual scholars’ banquet and other youth activities.

An airplane fly-in starts at 7 a.m., allowing a unique opportunity to witness a variety of aircraft arriving at the airstrip. Pilots from across the region will showcase their planes, offering a close-up look at different models and the chance to engage with the aviation community.

The fly-in lasts until 11 a.m.
