John M. “Jack” Prewitt, 71, of Beatrice passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at his home.  He was born on August 1, 1952 in Kenesaw to Carl and Myrtle (Meeske) Prewitt.  He moved with his family to Beatrice as a young child making him almost a lifelong Beatrice resident.  Jack graduated from Beatrice High School in 1972.  He worked for Hoover Group as a welder for 25 years and then for the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution as a corrections corporal for over eight years, retiring in 2014.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, browsing antique stores and flea markets, and helping family and friends.

            Survivors include one daughter, Chastity Glassinger of Beatrice; two grandsons, Ryan Wolf and Corey Glassinger; sister, Alma “Tudi” Rohr of Beatrice; brothers, Bill Walker of Kearney and Gene Walker of California; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mick Walker; sister, Merlene Hardesty; brothers-in-law, Sam Hardesty and Harold Rohr. 

            Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Fox Funeral Home with Dave Clark officiating. Cremation has taken place and there will be no viewing.  A book for signatures will be available on Friday, June 7, 2024 from noon until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family’s choice.    At John’s request, everyone attending the service is asked to wear casual clothes.   www.foxfuneralhome.net  Fox Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
