BEATRICE – A Cortland man was arrested last Saturday following an incident where a dog was shot by a pellet gun.

Gage County Sheriff’s Officers were sent to a Washington Avenue address in Cortland on a report of an animal shooting.  Authorities found that an 8-year-old Heeler mix dog had died on the owner’s back patio while a gathering was being held.

A deputy observed a pellet gun entry wound on the left side of the dog.
