WYMORE, NEB. - Work is continuing on a Southeast Nebraska inn.

The Heritage Inn in Wymore is nearing completion as Manager Rebecca Cherny nears accepting visitors.

“The inn is born out of my love for Wymore and my love for Nebraska,” Cherny said. “I bought the land about 10 years ago, but didn’t have occasion to do anything with it until recently.”

The inn began work at its Seventh and D Street location about a year ago and hopes to have a grand opening this summer. It sits in the same building as Wymore’s only coffee shop, BlueMore Roasters. The inn has also received a grant from the city for landscaping work.

A unique fact of about the inn, is all furnishing on the interior are antique donations, coming in both locally and nationally.

“People are giving things that they love. Someone gave a quilt just yesterday that was all hand done, the clock on the wall came from a former mayor whose dad was a lawyer here for many years,” Cherny said. “These are things people have treasured and are putting in our care to share with Wymore.”

Cherny says the goal of the inn is to showcase the small Gage County community and its history.

“It’s always a goal to show more and more people how wonderful Wymore is,” Cherny said. “More people are understanding that bigger is not always better… You can go move to Lincoln or Kansas City. Wymore is a fantastic community, it has great public schools, a young family can give their kids a bigger yard to run around in if they were to build in some more expensive place.”
