BEATRICE – It was mostly a good day for incumbents, in Gage County and City of Beatrice races.

Incumbent Republican Emily Haxby won the Republican nomination in her District 2 Gage County Board race, defeating Jim Ensz, 317-to 258.  There was no Democratic candidate.

In the 6th District Supervisors race, incumbent Don Schuller won the nomination, with 127 votes….Jim Hill had 61 and Sue Davis, 14.  Schuller faces Republican Rex Adams in the November General election.

Former Beatrice City Councilman Rick Clabaugh defeated former Beatrice mayor candidate Ashley Mason, 228-to-153, for the Republican nomination for Gage County Board District 4.   Clabaugh will now face incumbent Democrat Dave Swavely, in the November election.

In the Beatrice City Council First Ward race….Gary Barnard…who moved from the Fourth Ward to the First Ward, outpolled Incumbent Tim Fralin, 335-to-250.  Chelsey Thompson finished third, with 110 votes.  Barnard and Fralin now square off in November.

Incumbent Third Ward Councilman Rich Kerr edged Dana Hydo, 159-to-142, while Chris Ulrick picked up 66 votes.  Kerr and Hydo move on to November.

Adams voters passed a sales tax question, 80-to-67….while Blue Springs voters rejected a sales tax plan, by a vote of 32-to-15.   Clatonia voters approved a keno question, 44-to-16.  DeWitt voters approved a keno issue, on a vote of 77-to-13.

Voter turnout in Gage County came to just under 34-percent.
