Dr. Derrick Joel named superintendent of Norris School District #160

Norris School District #160 has named its next superintendent.

FIRTH, NEB. - Norris School District #160 has named its next superintendent.

In an email to parents, Norris announced Dr. Derrick Joel as the next Superintendent of the district effective July 1, 2024. The Norris Board of Education voted unanimously to promote Joel from assistant superintendent to fill the open position. 

Joel replaces Brian Maschmann who announced his resignation last week after 14 years as both superintendent and assistant superintendent. Maschmann will become the next administrator of Educational Service Unit 6, which serves Fillmore, Lancaster, Saline, Seward and York counties.

Derrick Joel is the son of retired Lincoln Public Schools Superintendent Steve Joel.
