BEATRICE – For the first time in several years, citizens will pay a bit more to use the Big Blue Water Park in Beatrice this coming summer season.
Small increases in the daily rate and season pass charges, Mayor Bob Morgan says, were needed.

"As minimum wage goes up and we're trying to hire qualified young people to work in the water park, it's become necessary to take a little bit of a hike....and I think this hike is very reasonable, and keeps our water park staffed."

City Administrator Tobias Tempelmeyer says the daily pass rate at the water park will increase by 50-cents. Season passes will be increased by $3. The rental rate of the facility for parties will also be increased. The council approved the changes by approving the city’s fee resolution, which includes several other fees for various services….none of which were changed.

The past year, the daily rate at the water park was no charge up to $6...depending on age and time of day.  A family of four season pass was $165.....$65 for ages 4 to 17......$75 for those over age 17.

The Big Blue Water Park typically opens on Memorial Day weekend and operates up until the new school year starts.
