FAIRBURY, Neb. -- An Easter event that has continued for nearly 20 years will be held in Fairbury on Saturday.

The Easter egg hunt will begin at 1 p.m. and is free for children up to ten years old.

The hunt will span all the way around the Jefferson County Courthouse lawn and will last around 15 minutes.

The Fairbury Chamber of Commerce organized the event, which involves nearly eight thousand eggs.

“There is candy and quarters and other little trinkets," organizer Sharon Priefert said. "We break the courthouse lawn down into four groups. So it starts from zero and goes around the courthouse."

Children should be accompanied by a parent or a guardian during the event. The chamber said donations of candy, trinkets or cash are needed.
