BEATRICE – A driver ejected from his vehicle died at the scene northwest of Beatrice, late Friday night. 

Gage County law officers say the one-vehicle accident happened on Nebraska Highway 4, at the intersection with West Juniper Road….about five miles northwest of Beatrice.

A Ford F-150 pickup driven by 21-year-old Jose Luis Hernandez, of Plymouth….was westbound on the highway when the truck went off a curve into the north ditch.  Investigators say the driver overcorrected, causing the truck to go back onto the highway and then enter the south ditch. 

The pickup rolled several times, ejecting Hernandez from the vehicle. The accident happened after 11:30 p.m., Friday.  

Beatrice Fire and Rescue and Beatrice Rural Fire were sent to the scene along with sheriff’s deputies.

Investigators say safety restraints were not in use by the driver.
